HANGING BY A THREAD

By Lisa Huddleston

Hanging by a Thread

I knew I shouldn’t pull it

Just clip off the loose ends

and let what remained of

the seam be

Just keep it all together

But I couldn’t stop

picking at it

Until suddenly

Before I knew what

I’d done

It all unraveled

The wise woman builds her house,

but with her own hand the foolish

one tears hers down.
